The tips below are suggestions only. There are many variables to
the success of these treatments that cannot be taken into account
here. It is important that you check with the product’s manufacturers
for important guidelines based on the materials used.
Carpet Stains
There are many different types of stains that can possibly find their way onto your carpet. Things like pet stains, vomit, coffee, or tea.
It is imperative that the stain be treated as soon as possible. First, quickly grab table salt and pour it over and just around the outside of the spill. This helps inhibit the stain from soaking further into the carpet. This will buy you time to get either white cloths or all white paper towels to blot the stain with. Remember – never rub. Blot with just straight pressure, pressing down on the stain. Then apply a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water, with just a little amount of mild carpet detergent. Apply – blot again – and then place clean towels over the stain and weigh them down. Let them sit for several hours. Repeat until the area is dry.
When treating red wine you can try pouring white wine over the stain and then follow with above treatment, blotting first – or you can use plain soda water, blotting first and then follow with the above treatment.
Stains in Tile Grout
This one is easy. Make a mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide with Baking Soda and spray it on the grout. Let it sit for a few minutes and then use a soft scrub brush to scrub, and rinse.
Garbage Disposal Odors
Lemon, lime, or orange peels cut into small pieces (about the size of a half dollar) and placed in your disposal and then ground up will freshen your disposal.
Cleaning Glass without Leaving Streaks
Mix 1 part of white vinegar to 4 parts of water in a spray water bottle. Spray glass and wipe dry with a clean white cloth or paper towel.
